I was very fond of Jeanette she was a good friend. However, I have two specific memories and ones we have laughed about often. Some years ago, I used to go into the office on a Saturday to help out with the accounts. It was when we were all new to IT. Jeanette used to read the figures for the week out to me and I would input into the computer. A simple enough task, but one that became very fraught and we often nearly came to blows . I would accuse Jeanette of mumbling and she would say I was deaf and on it went. A minor silly little thing, but I cant tell you how intense and annoying it was. We always made up and I now wear a hearing aid, so she may have been right. Our home telephone number was very similar to a local Indian takeaway. One Saturday night the phone rang, I picked up and a voice said quite bluntly with no pleasantries “Order a takeaway” I knew straight away it was Jeanette. I replied in my best Southern Asian voice “ Are you fat lady from Oakley” Jeanette responded “Pardon”, I said “order please”, she gave me her order, I queried every item, she was getting very short with me. Once the order was placed, I said, “That’s a lot for one lady, no wonder you so big”. At this point, I couldn’t carry on due to laughing and my true identity exposed
